Anzevino & Florence
Anzevino & Florence is a new line of T-shirts by artists Bj Anzevino & Richard Florence. Anzevino & Florence just recently finished a collection of T's for the Andy Warhol Museum while living in Pittsburgh, PA. Within a few months, the collection was being carried by upscale retailers such as Fred Segal and Ron Herman. Now based out of Los Angeles, the two artists have been producing t-shirts with designs from their own sketchpads and journals. "We started making tees for our own wardrobes. We wanted something to wear for whatever mood we were in." The first collection of t-shirts consists of original drawings or quotes for both men and women. "We are inspired by contrast - we love over the top, gaudy art and generic minimalism; sincerity and sarcasm. We really believe that emotions are art, so our art tends to reference a lot of them." The goal is to make light of feelings. It really helps. For example: Putting on a shirt that reads "Todays episode is a rerun" can seemingly turn your monotony into art. While we realize that our t-shirts probably won't cure depression but they do tend to invoke smiling.
