Margarita Saplala graduated from the Art Institute in Chicago. Her career started at Halston Coats, and then worked for a slew of brand names until 2004 when she was ready to come out on her own with the t-shirt collection. Designer Margarita Saplala works within the concept of the most common article of clothing: the t-shirt. The t-shirt is taken to a different level of individuality in her line, starting with the basic t-shirt silhouette she begins to drape, knot, and twist the fabric creating t-shirts that stray from any conventional shape. Margarita Saplala?s pieces are also often adorned with her own drawn fantasy images of animal and chains, with prints and textured embroidery. They are t-shirts for the not so common. Today the t-shirt collection is available at specialty boutiques across the US, Japan and The Middle East.
