Grey Ant
As a young boy, Krajecki of Grey Ant discovered his mom?s sewing machine and began whipping up decorative pillows and stealing mom?s Simplicity patterns, surprising her with clothes he?d made. Over the years there was a ?naughty & nice? costume he fashioned for a pair of porn star conjoined twins, a motorcycle get-up for an elephant and lighted capes for a troupe of little people. There were also costumes for the Ice Capades, Las Vegas showgirls and fifties inspired dresses for the Los Angeles production of ?How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.?
In June of 1998, with money saved from a year of working the early shift at a local coffee shop, Grant Krajecki launched Grey Ant. The Moniker being an affectionate at his family and friends who for years had whined his name, ?G-r-a-n-t.? The Grey Ant collection was the embodiment of the hole he saw in fashion and included hip-hugger pants, winged and domain sleeved tops, silk-screened tee shirts and sleek nylon dresses in a palette of black, gray, red and white.
Celebrity clients include Beck, Juliette Lewis, Gwen Stefani, Sara McLaughlin, Mena Suvari, Lenny Kravitz, Rose McGowan, Shirley Manson and Brittany Murphy. In his spare time, Krajecki continues to support the local theatre companies that sustained him early on, creating original costumes free-of-charge.
