Bearpaw Paper and Crafts is the work of Neil Freese, a 28-year-old writer/designer/editor based in Northern California. When Neil was 12, his family took him to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, a land of geysers and other amazing nature-related stuff. One muggy afternoon his parents pulled their minivan to the side of the road, and everyone jumped out of the car and began pointing into the woods, jumping excitedly and shrieking. "There's a black bear, right there, in the woods," Neil's dad said. His siblings saw the bear too. But Neil didn't see the bear, just trees and underbrush. Two years later, on vacation in Florida, everyone but Neil saw an alligator in a drainage ditch by the side of a two-lane road. Frustrated from years of not seeing wild animals, Neil decided to draw them. This was the genesis of Bearpaw. Note: Neil draws each Bearpaw design by hand, and produces his cards, bags and T-shirts individually to ensure the high quality and general awesomeness of his products. Enjoy.
