Atelier Baraque
While studying art and design in Montreal, Karla Smith, Sarah Hamlin and Morgan Charles discovered that they all shared a love of pattern, printing and textiles, as well as the desire to work together on a project that would combine their complimentary skills and ambitions. Atelier Baraque is the direct result of this collective vision.
Born in the spring of 2004, Baraque (French for "shed" or "shanty") began by creating original wall designs and prints and eventually spilled over into other interior ventures, such as bedding and home accessories. Believing that beauty is in the detail, Baraque does everything by hand. Each print is one of a kind, but all pieces share the unifying themes of high-quality, creativity and craftsmanship.
Drawing upon a variety of inspirations, from vintage fabric to fairy tales to architecture, all of Baraque's designs are original and characterized by a devotion to colour and a sense of play.
